Typodarium 2026
Your daily dose of Type
Trend Radar Type Design – or: Why Font Design Is So Important
Choosing the right font is a frequently underestimated component of visual composition. Readers often don't consciously perceive type design. It communicates subliminally. And powerfully. Good designers are therefore always on the lookout for new fonts that lend subtle expression to texts and secure them the hotly contested attention of readers. But where can you find new fonts? How do you find your way through the font jungle? Who scouts the best type designers and their latest designs for you?
Julia Uplegger, Raban Ruddigkeit, and Lars Harmsen know the international type scene and have been following it for many years. They discover new talent and new fonts from “old hands.” They collect and sort, analyze and evaluate, and compile a selection that is close to the trend and high in quality. And they save you the trouble of doing your own research. That is what has made Typodarium so valuable and highly regarded for years.

And word is getting around.
Typodarium has established itself as a source of inspiration in the world of typography and is eagerly awaited each year by designers and agency creatives. Every Sunday, it surprises us with meta-trends: a hundred years after the Bauhaus moved to Dessau, it presents new modular fonts. What began as a formal aesthetic experiment by Josef Albers and Herbert Bayer is now experiencing a revival in the digital space of animated fonts and new geometric compositions.
Get your daily dose of typography and stay ahead of the boom in new fonts!
Typodarium is now not only filled with font designs in many countries around the world, but also distributed. This year, you will find 365 fresh fonts from 330 designers from 39 countries in the colorful Powerblock, and you can collect the ones you like best in the newly redesigned solid treasure chest.
How the Typodarium came to us
When Raban Ruddigkeit told us about his idea for a daily tear-off calendar featuring type designs half a lifetime ago in the summer, we were thrilled. But it was summer—and the calendar season for retailers was long over. We didn't know that—and when we were told, we thought, “The new year is still a long way off.” Sometimes it's good not to stick to the unwritten rules of an industry! The Typodarium was published in October – and became a huge success because it fascinated not only typography nerds, but also people who were not previously aware of the infinite variety of fonts, but who were enthusiastic about them.
At some point, the calendar got a box, then colored backs, it changed—but remained true to itself. It gathered a solid fan base around it and today it is impossible to imagine the lives of creative people without it. We are delighted about that! And it presents us with the challenge of coming up with a new idea for Sundays every year.
If you can't imagine your life without Typodarium, then we'll be happy to come up with something for many years to come...
