Four Years. 205 x Word disorder
What began as a small experiment became a regular feature of the Berliner Zeitung and the Ostdeutsche Allgemeine. Week after week since 2022, Raban Ruddigkeit has tried not to explain the present, but to throw it off balance with a single word. Some of his “Wortstörungen” made us smile, others provoked disagreement, and many inspired further thought.
Now the time has come to take a break. Not because we have run out of words, but because good formats should know when their story has been told. And that is precisely how it should be remembered: as what it long remained—an experiment in language, design and perspective. What will take its place here? We do not yet know ourselves. Perhaps something entirely new will emerge. Perhaps something that unsettles the present in a different way. What would you, our readers, like to see?
Our special thanks go to Raban Ruddigkeit for four years of linguistic precision, creative curiosity and tireless delight in playing with language. Those who will miss his verbal acrobatics need not go without, however: Denkeschön – A Creative Wordplay for Every Day, a perpetual calendar featuring 365 of Raban Ruddigkeit’s word creations, will soon be published by Seltmann Publishers.
